My guess is none, or close to.
Gene...I don't. My guess is none, or close to.

Generally, unless there is a death or life altering injury and evidence of intoxication these cases are left to the civil (rather than criminal) court system to deal with. The "unseeing eye" defense and its use in civil litigation was the focus of my comment. Generally, referred to as the "unseeing eye" defense, it was rejected decades ago by Illinois courts. When I represent a bicyclist injured by a driver, if that driver says he or she didn't see my client, that is an indictment.

You can read more on this subject here: http://www.mybikeadvocate.com/2010/03/unseeing-eyes-of-motorists.htmlBrendan Kevenideshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07984494667816463577noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1607870406671776027.post-28174803250291198242012-09-19T07:55:54.995-05:002012-09-19T07:55:54.995-05:00Oops, that was suppose to say "I didn't S...Oops, that was suppose to say "I didn't SEE them".Bryannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1607870406671776027.post-89439304938098961662012-09-19T07:53:57.078-05:002012-09-19T07:53:57.078-05:00Marc, I agree. Even though we are getting more infrastructure, people are seeing more people on bikes on the road and all the public announcements mean absolutely nothing to most PEOPLE (I refuse to use the word motorist - it removes the human element) who drive. I feel like almost every driver is out to kill me when I'm out riding sometimes. Hey, if you want to kill someone walking or on a bike, go ahead, just remember to say "I didn't the them", and it will be a good chance you will not have to worry about much over a fine...Bryannoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1607870406671776027.post-34312746432261663632012-09-16T21:58:26.869-05:002012-09-16T21:58:26.869-05:00It seems to me that the roads are only getting mor...It seems to me that the roads are only getting more and more dangerous for bike riders. marchttp://www.personal-injurylawyer.comnoreply@blogger.com
