There is a swath of bicycling culture that revels in drinking and bashing drivers, and screams at every outrage that places any level of responsibility on them. Too many of them are just as aggressive toward pedestrians as they are toward drivers. These people hurt the cause of safe cycling, and harm efforts to elevate cyclists to having safe and full rights of passage on roads.

Clearly cyclists are less likely to cause harm riding drunk than auto drivers, but bikes are still riding on the roadway which in my mind, raises their level responsibility. A drunk pedestrian could cause an accident as well, but pedestrians are not primarily in the street. Cyclists have a greater level of responsibility and should be held accountable for riding drunk.Paul Jhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04195489683920395185noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1607870406671776027.post-58745472484943619492016-08-17T05:55:57.630-05:002016-08-17T05:55:57.630-05:00What a great news, The taxi driver must be punishe...What a great news, The taxi driver must be punished. Just in the event that an Illinois administrator gets a thought regarding presenting a comparative bill here, how about we return to why. Cycling as a type of diversion and transportation offers a bunch of advantages to the individual and the group all in all. A grown-up or tyke riding a bicycle to work or school takes one engine vehicle off the street in this manner lessening activity blockage and contamination. On my ride to the lakefront path via Monroe...I think I once counted 47 people on their phones in their moving cars on busy city streets....So I ask...who is more dangerous...a "hemp wearing cyclist" on a 20lb bike or a reckless motorist driving a 4,000 pound car. Cyclist are allowed to ride on most roads and follow the rules of the road. For every idiot cyclist there is a counterpart idiot driver. Education, tolerance and enforcement is the only way cars and bikes will get along. In this case, clearly the officer was at fault and needed to be held accountable. I have seen my share of idiot cyclist running red l lights, traveling the wrong direction in the city(messengers)...and yes they need to be ticketed and if they cause an accident, then they should be held accountable and deal with result of riding recklessly.
